Transport Secretary Vince Dizon announced that Beep cards priced half for students, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens will be available starting September for use at the MRT and LRT lines.
Students, PWDs and senior citizens get a 50% discount at MRT-3, LRT-1 and LRT-2. Sec. Dizon explained that the 50% discount will already be programmed into the special Beep cards.
Dizon said, “If you are a student, you will go to any station in September, you will show your ID, and right then and there, your Beep card will be printed in every station on MRT-3 and LRT-1 and LRT-2, one time.”
Dizon noted that the Beep cards for students will be renewed or reactivated every school year.
He explained, “After one year, it won’t work anymore. So, you have to come back, and you have to show your student ID again for the next year so you can get another student beep card while you’re still a student.”
Dizon added that for PWDs and senior citizens, they only need to present their respective IDs to avail the special Beep cards.
The special Beep cards for PWDs and senior citizens does not need to be renewed.
Dizon also said every station of the MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 will have dedicated windows for printing the special Beep cards.
