The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC) on Friday cautioned the public against fake official receipts (ORs) being used in transactions involving closed banks under liquidation.
According to PDIC, the counterfeit ORs carry the old PDIC logo, contain misspellings, falsified signatures of personnel, and deviate from the standard format of genuine PDIC-issued receipts.
The agency reminded clients to transact only with authorized staff at its Makati office and to verify the authenticity of all PDIC-related documents.
Suspicious documents may be reported to the PDIC Public Assistance Department through pad@pdic.gov.ph, hotlines (02) 8841-4141 in Metro Manila, 1-800-1-888-7342 toll-free outside Metro Manila, or via PDIC’s official Facebook and X accounts.
Walk-in clients may also proceed to the PDIC Chino Building in Makati City.
“The PDIC remains committed to protecting the interest of depositors not only through deposit insurance, but also by ensuring transparency in all areas of its operations,” the agency said.
