Former SC spox named executive director of new anti-corruption body

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed former Supreme Court spokesperson Brian Keith Hosaka as executive director of the newly created Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).

The Presidential Communications Office released Hosaka’s appointment paper on Wednesday, September 24, days after Marcos signed Executive Order No. 94 establishing the ICI.

The ad hoc fact-finding body is tasked to investigate alleged corruption, irregularities, and misuse of funds in government flood control and related projects. It will be chaired by retired Supreme Court associate justice Andres Reyes Jr., with former Public Works secretary Rogelio Singson and SGV & Company executive Rossana Fajardo as members.

Under EO 94, the ICI Secretariat will provide administrative and technical support and will be headed by an executive director with the rank of undersecretary — a role now assumed by Hosaka.

A true-blue Atenean from elementary to law school, Hosaka passed the Bar in 1998 and began his career as a law clerk at the Supreme Court under then Senior Associate Justice Josue Bellosillo. He later served as SC assistant court administrator and Public Information Office chief, where he became the judiciary’s public face.In 2023, Hosaka was appointed commissioner of the Governance Commission for Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GCG). He also previously served as deputy general counsel of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. TRACY CABRERA
