Who is Karen Bordador, again, and why is she partying in a bus?

While the multi-colored lights blinked and the hustle and bustle of party-goers filled the air I found myself talking to this loquacious lady in brunet hair, brown shirt and tattered stone-washed jeans.

“After my release from detention at the Pasig City Jail I resumed what I love most doing well, hosting,” volunteered this smart girl whom I would later come to know as Karen Bordador.

Karen Bordador who?

Karen Bordador who, in 2016 (immediately after the inauguration in Malacanang of FPRRD who promptly waged his dreaded policy on war on drugs) was apprehended, arrested and detained on narcotic-related grounds.

Karen was with her boyfriend who was suspected of drug abuse at the time of the arrest.

Bordador didn’t make a scene in the operation despite her invocation of innocence as pieces of evidence were allegedly planted.

She said she was obedient with the authorities but she divulged in our casual talk that she was a celebrity “palit-ulo (head swapping scheme)” with the real culprit.

Although Karen was allegedly a fall guy, she was incarcerated just the same for five long years.

Her conscience was clear, she said, so no grudges against anyone, anyhow whatsoever.

Life went and goes on for Karen.

What the Monster Radio DJ did was to make life easy inside the detention center.

“I played the leader of the women Persons Deprived Liberty. I talked to them so we became closer,” she recalled.

Being a communicator herself, Karen intently talked and led the PDLs to new directions.

She is now, aside from talking on radio and live show audiences, an advocate of prison reforms all throughout the country.

This demeanor was also witnessed when she led the conversations among party guests which included Vivamax star Ayanna Misola, award-winning film sound editor Fatima Salim, content creator and rapper Ube King, among others, in the Party Bus shindig hosted by Victory Liner that toured around Quezon City one Tuesday night.

According to Karen, she encourages all freed PDL ladies to come out with their thoughts and throw reservations to be more understanding and discerning of people and situations.

Her life inside the prison she has been sharing with her colleagues in the biz including her stint at the “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB)” Kumunity edition. (Boy Villasanta)
