Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to identify those behind what he described as an organized effort to spread malicious social media posts questioning his health.
Speaking at a press conference, Remulla said the false claims appear to be part of a coordinated political attack.
“There’s really an orchestrated campaign. I don’t know for what purpose pero tingin ko (but I think), it’s part of the propaganda machine of some political parties,” he said.
Remulla stressed that the issue has crossed legal boundaries, prompting him to seek an official investigation.
“Pinapaimbestigahan ko yan. kasi we’ve reached the limit of cyberlibel already. Kaya tignan natin kung saan pupunta,” (I want it investigated because we’ve reached the limit of cyberlibel already. Let’s see where it goes),” he added.
He also dismissed online claims that he had been hospitalized, saying he remains fit and fully capable of carrying out his duties as Ombudsman.
“I work out every day. I sleep early, I wake up early,” Remulla said.
Reflecting on the persistence of the rumors, he added: “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Wala tayong magagawa naghahanap sila ng iistoryahin (There’s nothing we can do, they’re looking for something to talk about). I came out of my radio program last Saturday, but Sunday, meron na naman, tuloy na naman. Kaya makikita mo iyong bad faith (there were [news] again. So, you see the bad faith).”
Before assuming the post of Ombudsman, Remulla served as secretary of the Department of Justice. He was appointed to the position by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in October 2025.
