The Philippine National Bank (PNB) has expressed support for the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ issuance of the ₱10 ASEAN commemorative coin, which began circulating nationwide in January 2026 to mark the Philippines’ chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
The initiative, issued under Memorandum Circular Letter No. CL-2025-049 from the BSP Regional Operations and Advocacy Sector, calls on banks to help promote the new coin to ensure public awareness, acceptance, and smooth circulation.
The ₱10 ASEAN commemorative coin remains legal tender and can be used at face value alongside existing ₱10 coins under both the BSP Coin Series and the New Generation Currency Coin Series.
According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the coin is intended not only as a commemorative item but also as an active medium of daily transactions, reinforcing its practical role in the economy.
The central bank said the campaign aims to familiarize the public with the coin’s design and significance while encouraging its regular use in everyday commerce.
It also underscores the Philippines’ continued commitment to regional cooperation and leadership within ASEAN.
