SB19 has been named by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as the country’s newest tourism ambassadors.
DOT tapped the group’s global reach to promote Filipino culture and encourage international travel to the country.
This was confirmed by SB19 members Pablo, Stell, Ken, Josh and Justin after receiving a “Galingbayan” box from DOT.
Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay said SB19’s following across the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia could help attract overseas Filipinos and international fans to visit the Philippines.
“SB19 is giving people real reasons to visit the Philippines. That’s the kind of reach we want to build on,” Sec. Angara-Mathay said.
Josh said they long looked forward to the opportunity. “We want to make a genuine difference, so we’re teaming up with partners who get our vision. By taking our music to established international markets, we can connect with the global Filipino diaspora, share our culture, and give them that feeling of home,” he said.
The appointment comes as the group prepares for several international appearances.
SB19 joins another P-pop group BINI as the Philippines’ tourism ambassadors.
