Passengers of MRT-3 who can present their National ID get to ride free during peak hours on certain days of August up to early September.
The free ride is being launched in coordination with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to celebrate the anniversary of the signing of Republic Act No. 11055, known as the Philippine Identification System Act.
The zero fare will apply on rush hours (7:00-9:00 AM and 5:00-7:00 PM) every Wednesday of August (Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26). An additional day is scheduled for Sept. 16, 2026, to observe Global Identity Day.
To avail of the free rides, passenger must present a valid form of their National ID at the turnstiles. Accepted formats include the standard physical card, the official Digital ID on a mobile device, or a printed copy of the ePhilID.
To encourage use of the national ID, PSA will set up live registration kiosks at select MRT-3 facilities, including high-foot-traffic locations at Araneta-Cubao Station and Taft Avenue Station.
The move allows unregistered commuters to sign up for the national database directly along their daily transit route.
