Anne Curtis shoots back at solon; women’s groups defend her vs misogyny

Alongside Anne Curtis’ retaliation and self-defense stance against Quezon City Fourth District Congressman Jesus “Bong” Suntay’s use on her person to illustrate the premise of “imagination” in defense of Vice President Sara Duterte’s charges of sedition, insurrection and political destabilization to warrant a new impeachment case as an analogy on his sexual fantasies over the actress, women’s groups and individual Filipino females have expressed their support and empathy for the Fil-Aussie film, movie and multimedia celebrity.

Mamamayang Liberal (ML) party-list representative Leila de Lima has explicitly condemned the misogynistic remarks of her fellow lawmaker against Anne.

Other congresswomen who have upheld the rights of the actress over alleged lascivious act Congressmqn Suntay are Quezon City 6th District Congresswoman Marivic Co-Pilar, Bulacan 5th District Representative Agatha Cruz, Akbayan party-list Representative Dadah Kiram Ismula, Dinagat Island Representative Kaka Bag-ao and Pagsanjan 6th District Representative Marlyn Primicias Agabas.

Gabriela, Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), World March of Women, among others, have also signified their sympathy for Curtis.

These people and women’s orgs are aligning with the emancipation of women from feudal bondage.

They have collectively filed suits against Suntay on the bases of common laws for the protection of women like the Safe Spaces Act or the Bawal Bastos Law (R.A. 11313), Magna Carta on Women (R.A. 9710, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials (R.A. 6713).

Anne, together with husband Erwan Heussaff and their daughter Dahlia Amelie, immediately issued an official statement after their safe return from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) condemning Suntay’s analogy.

According to Curtis, she still doesn’t accept Bong’s non-apology.

She has maintained her brave stand against the misogynistic pronouncements of the lawmaker.
