Rain or Shine is not taking the latest antics of veteran center Beau Belga lightly.
Belga was fined 15 days worth of salary by his PBA team following a thorough investigation by the Elasto Painters management, In a statement, Rain or Shine said Belga played in several unsanctioned exhibition games held in Cebu, Davao and Laguna.
“Rain or Shine team management has concluded its internal investigation and found that Beau Belga breached his PBA Uniform Players’ Contract by participating in exhibition games in Cebu, Davao,
and Laguna. A fine of fifteen (15) days worth of salary has been imposed on Beau,” the official team of Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters posted.
Rain or Shine management initially suspended Belga for six working days without pay for his involvement in an unsanctioned basketball game in Cebu.
Further investigations will be conducted internally.
Belga’s specific deduction was not announced although the fine will reportedly reach as high as P210,000 if based on the maximum salary of P420,000 per month for a player allowed by the league.
Belga is also not safe from possible additional fines and penalties because he was also summoned by the Office of the PBA Commissioner on May 3 to explain his involvement in the disturbance that occurred in a game in Cebu.
PBA Deputy Commissioner Eric Castro said during his attendance at the weekly Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum that PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial also summoned Belga, JR Quiñahan, Robert Bolick, Rey Nambatac, Alex Stockton, Jio Jalalon and Kevin Barkley Eboña.
