Ready to rumble.
That’s how undefeated super flyweight sensation Jade Bornea described himself more than two weeks before his scheduled title fight against IBF super flyweight world champion Fernando Martinez in
Minnesota, United States on June 24.
Bornea, one of Sanman Promotions’ leading boxing contenders, holds an impressive record of 18 wins, including 12 by knockouts, and no defeat.
His rival, Martinez, is best remembered for grabbing the belt from another Filipino champion Jerwin Ancajas, who he has beaten twice via unanimous decision.
Asked if he is unfazed by Martinez’s reputation, Bornea said it motivates him even more.
“A world title is every boxer’s lifetime dream. It has always been my dream. I will give it my all to win this fight. It’s a make or break fight for me,” said Bornea.
“Martinez is very tough having beaten my friend and countryman Jerwin Ancajas but style makes fights. I have trained very hard with coach Ernel Fontanilla. I spent almost all my time in a day inside the gym.
I hope my hard work will pay off come fight night. I want to thank my Sanman team and Sean Gibbons for making this possible”, added Bornea.
Bornea’s manager, Jim Claude Manangquil ,also expressed confidence in his ward. “Jade has been preparing all his life for this. Now that the chance is here, I am sure he will grab it with everything he’s got. He is a very hardworking boxer.”, Manangquil said.
