The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc., a group that binds leading 28 vehicle manufacturers in the country, started its 30th year celebration with a big bang as it held its Chairman’s Cup, in honor of its founding chairman and newly reelected Palawan Representative Jose Alvarez, at the Manila Golf & Country Club.
No less than Rep. Alvarez welcomed the participants in the annual golfest organized by its current president Atty. Gutierrez and his team. “I would like to thank you for lending us your precious time in joining this event. Although we seldom see each other because of our respective hectic times, you take time to join us here in golf which promotes fun and camaraderie to all the members of the organization,” said Gov. Alvarez, who also participated in the ceremonial tee-off and in the group photo.
Most of the big guns of the 28 member-companies were present and joined the event under the sunny summer sky and also in the fun raffle during lunch. The event was presented by BPI and Shell.
Brixton Aw carded a gross 78 to ran away with the Lowest Gross Trophy while TV host Patricia Hizon bagged the Lowest Net Trophy with a gross of 85 (handicap 17) and a net of 68.
Inquirer’s Jong Arcano was the Class A champ with Edmund Navarro and Rommel Juan as first and second runnersup. Shell’s Manny Castaneda bagged the Class B division championship with Hyundai’s top man Jiho Son and BMW’s Spencer Yun as first and second runnersup. Class Cchamp was Mercedes Benz’s Anthony Lao with Pliver Buan and Cecil Capacete as first and second runnersup. Mazda’s Ira Jornada was the Ladies Division champ with Honda president Rei Miyake as first runnerup. Vince Cala took home the Sponsor/Guest Division with Vince Hizon and Edward Jose as runnersup.
Campi president and Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation first vice president Rommel Gutierrez said the golf tournament not started the 30th anniversary celebration of Campi but also to honor Rep. Alvarez who is its founding chairman. “This is the very reason why the venue of this year’s Campi Golf is the Manila Golf & Country Club. This is because of our chairman emeritus Rep. Alvarez who started this organization 30 years ago. We have to thank Rep. Alvarez for his generosity and we would like to thank all of you for your participation,” Gutierrez said.
