Hard-hitting mixed martial arts takes spotlight anew at Casino Filipino (CF) as the fifth installment of the keenly-awaited Battle Extreme Tournament of Superstars (Bets) unfurls at CF Manila Bay on March 23.
CF, in partnership with the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC), will present an eight-fight card that will be bannered by the welterweight battle between Richard Redman of Fist Gym and Brian Paule of Misters Gym and Maxground MMA. Another welterweight division tiff pitting The Den MNL’s Arvin Chan against Top Gym’s Minho Kim will serve as the co-main event.
The 33-year-old Redman, who is known in the MMA world as “The Cannibal”, heads into the fight seeking to end a three-game losing streak. He currently has a 2-5-0 (win-loss-draw) record. But the task will not be easy for the 5’7” warrior as the six-foot Paule is dead set on using his five-inch height advantage to score his second victory in the second fight of his career.
Chan (2-8-0), meanwhile, is coming off a smashing first round submission win over Joel Labonero during the CF Bets IV held at CF Mactan last December 2017. The 29-year-old ring gladiator nicknamed “Asintado” will be gunning for his third career victory over a young South Korean fighter in Kim, who is hungry for his first victory following a disappointing professional MMA debut against compatriot Dae Young Jang in the Road FC event in 2015.
“If MMA fans enjoyed the first four installments of CF Bets, the fifth part of this much-awaited fight is guaranteed to bring them again on the edge of their seats. The fight cards that URCC lined up for CF Bets V comprise fierce ring warriors who have trained really hard to give casino patrons and guests another nail-biting entertainment,” said Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) Assistant VP for Entertainment Bong Quintana.
Other featured matches in CF Bets V pit include Jiar Castillo of Hitman MMA against Kim Kyu Hwa of BK Wangho/Top Gym, Niel Larano (Fist Gym) vs. Kim Ki-Sung (BK Wangho/Top Gym), Lucky Mateo (Fight Corp) vs. Kevin Park (Top Gym), Ariel Lampacan (Subsports PH) vs. Dennis Salazar (Oryx MMA), Denice Zamboanga (Tough Guys International) vs. Jocelyn Budih (Catalan Fighting System) and Don Tagalog vs. Moobin Lee (Top Gym).
