It’s not only the celebration of the National Language Month this August that inspired and motivated Dr. Arthur P. Casanova, Chairman of the Surian ng Wikang Filipino (SWF) to attend a lecture series on Theater Arts in Quezon Province but his desire to reinvigorate the multi-linguistic nature of the country as well.
As the leader of the nation’s premier agency on Filipino languages, Casanova has been strenghtening the fiber of ethno-linguistic, regional tongues landscape of the Philippines.
Filipino is, first and foremost, the mother of all dialects that equally coheres all lengua-francas in the archipelago.
As such, Arthur pivots in all art forms that promote Filipino as national language, one of them theater.
And the month of August is significant in the burgeoning art of theater in the country.
Yet its relevance is felt not only from day one of August but in the entire year.
It is therefore pride of Leon Guinto Memorial Colleges in Atimonan, Quezon to be visited however virtually by Casanova as he lectures on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 10 am for Theater Arts students of Theater Apprenticeship this school year.
The online symposium will also be a vehicle in the propagation of Filipino.
