Her disappearance from the local show business was so sudden that the public terribly missed her as the most effective Primera Contravida in Philippine big and small screens.

Her death was as swift as the whiff of the wind when actor Sid Lucera officially announced her aunt’s demise. Death, in her case, was like a thief in the night.

Cherie Gil died of cancer yesterday at 5 pm, according to actress Annabelle Rama, after a few months of her bowing out from the limelight as she wanted to start her life all over again in New York with her children.

At the time, she went bald as a symbol of her living a new life abroad.

It must be recalled that Sharon Cuneta posted in her social media spaces a note that she flew to a very far place from California to visit a very sick friend who meant everything to her.

Was it Cherie Sharon was talking about?

Gil was 59.
