Chevron Philippines Inc. (Chevron) will help 33 public schools in Metro Manila upgrade their science and technology (S&T) capabilities through a donation of P150,000 for each school through the Caltex Fuel Your School (FYS) program.
The donation will be used for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) school projects, Chevron country chairman Peter Morris said.
Morris said Chevron will donate P5 million to the American Chamber Foundation of the Philippines (ACFP), a partner in the program which is tasked to screen the STEM projects.
DepEd Regional Director for the National Capital Region Luz Almeda said the donation would supplement science and technology equipment and training for public school students.
Raissa Bautista, Chevron manager for policy, government and public affairs, said Chevron hopes to empower teachers and spur students’ interest to excel in STEM.
At least 700 teachers and 9,000 students from public schools will benefit from the program which targets raising P5 million from June 15 to July 15 in which every 4 liters purchase of Chevron’s Caltex fuels would be matched P1 in donation.
ACFP President Edwin Feist said the foundation would help promote STEM education to local schools.
Chevron, operating in the country for more than 90 years, has been selling Caltex brand in 700 service stations nationwide. Fuel brands include Techron fuel, Caltex Diesel with Techron, Havoline, and Delo oils. Riza Lozada
