Chinabank has received two major distinctions at the 2026 Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability (ACES) Awards, winning the Industry Champion of the Year and Inspiring Workplace in Asia titles during ceremonies held October 15 and 16 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The awards recognize the bank’s efforts in combining banking innovation, sustainable business practices, and employee development to strengthen its operations and institutional performance.
The Industry Champion of the Year distinction is given to organizations recognized for industry leadership, operational scale, sound governance, and customer-focused innovation.
ACES Awards President Shanggari Balakrishnan cited Chinabank’s performance in 2025, particularly its focus on sustainable growth and digital innovation.
She said the bank’s integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its governance framework and expansion of digital capabilities had improved operational efficiency while contributing to community development.
Chinabank President and CEO Romeo D. Uyan Jr. said the recognition affirms the bank’s commitment to innovation, sustainable finance, and operational resilience.
He added that the bank’s approach is intended to strengthen its competitiveness while supporting long-term growth.
The Inspiring Workplace in Asia award, meanwhile, recognizes companies that go beyond basic workplace compliance by fostering inclusive, engaging, and development-oriented environments.
Chinabank said its One Chinabank culture is supported by continuous employee training, open communication channels, and programs promoting employee well-being and professional growth.
Human Resources Group Head Tani Michelle Cruz said the bank seeks to provide a workplace where learning, merit-based opportunities, and employee welfare are given priority.
She stressed that empowering employees through mutual respect and equal opportunity is essential to business leadership.
The latest recognition follows Chinabank’s receipt of the ACES Nation Builder Award in 2025, making it the first recipient of the distinction for its century-long contribution to the Philippine economy.
