Comedian Dennis Padilla lamented one of his daughter’s decisions that almost moved him to tears.
Claudia Barretto, the second child of Dennis and former wife Marjorie Barretto, recently filed a petition with a Quezon City trial court, the respective civil registry offices of Quezon City and Muntinlupa City and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to drop the name Baldivia (the real family name of Dennis) from her name.
The incident prompted Padilla to react passionately yet tempered.
“If my sadness will bring joy to you my children…My heart is full…Same Love Same Hope.
“Love you Claui…I respect your decision…Malungkot lang Talaga (It’s just indeed sad),” bewailed Dennis in his Instagram.
It was not the first time that Claudia’s situation elicited emotional response from Padilla.
When she got married to Basti Lorenzo, son of business tycoon Martin Lorenzo, Dennis threw out a one-liner that he felt he “was just a visitor in the wedding.”
Claudia is now the co-sibling-in-law (bilas) of actress Erich Gonzales because Basti is the younger brother of Mateo Lorenzo, the husband of Erich.
At the time, Marjorie was the one who sent her daughter to the altar to meet her groom.
