Duremdes dominates Samahang Plaridel golfest

PBA legend Kenneth Duremdes emerged as the biggest winner in the 9th Samahang Plaridel Golf Cup 2025 at the Villamor Golf Club in Pasay City.

Duremdes, who represented  Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) of former Sen. Manny Pacquiao, posted a low gross score of 76 to clinch top  honors in the 18-hole competition presented by Eighty Plus Coffee, San Miguel Corporation and PCSO.

The 51-year-old pride of Koronadal, South Cotabato also brought home two special awards — longest putt in Hole No. 18  at 21 feet, and Nearest to the Pin in Hole No. 12 at 1 foot and six inches.

Justin de Dios took the low net championship in the event sponsored by JD Legaspi Construction, PAGCOR, Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson, Sen. Chiz Escudero, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Cong. Mike Defensor, Manila Mayor Francisco Moreno Domagoso, PCO Sec. Dave Gomez, Sprinto, Metro Pacific Investment Corporation, BEST, UNILAB, Starpay, Marrero-Acop Pediatric Hospital, Mayor Arlene Arcillas of Sta. Rosa City and Philippine Sports Commission.

Sharing the limelight in the event co-sponsored by Philippine Olympic Committee, Go for Gold, Action Labs, One Chess Movement, ICTSI, Voxpori Capital Pvt. Ltd., Security Bank, Development Bank of the Philippines, Jolibee, Monde Nissin, G-Cash, Kapihan sa Radyo, Cong. Sen. Win Gatchalian, Qualys, Terp Asia Construction, Isuzu, Honda Cars, Pilipinas Shell, Meralco, PenserQ, SSS-GSIS Partylist and Toyota were Oliver Agustin in Class A, Carl Delgado in Class B; Chito Manuel in Class C; and Faith de Dios in ladies division.

Agustin tallied 69 to edge Dinan Cayanong (70) and Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines president Oliver Gan (71)  in Class A (gross score of 93 and below).

Delgado edged Retired Gen. Cris Maralit and Gen. Alex Bellen in Class B ( gross score of 94-102) via countback after they finished 72.

Manuel, the Manila-based correspondent of Arab News, posted a 74 to beat Shunhei Oishi (75) and Jamiro Crlos ( 75).

De Dios (70) won over Andrea Abalos (72) in the ladies division.

Special awards were also given to Gilbert Escoto (Most Accurate Drive) and Joji Rivera (Longest Drive).

Former Philippine Air Force Commanding General Lt. Gen Oscar Rabena and PSC Commissioner Fritz Gaston made the ceremonial tee-off, along with Gen. Cris Maralit, Oliver Gan and Association of Philippine Journalists-Samahang Plaridel president Evelyn Quiroz.

Quiroz also awarded the trophies to the winners, assisted by vice president Andy Sevilla, Jinky Jorgio, Ed Andaya and Nelly Lumbaca.

Samahang Plaridel founding member Gen.
