EastWest takes digital banking with EasyWay

EastWest is expanding digital banking access through EasyWay, its mobile banking app that now allows customers to open savings accounts and apply for credit cards directly from their smartphones.

The bank said 47 percent of new accounts opened since the launch of its digital account-opening service were processed through EasyWay, reflecting growing customer preference for digital onboarding.

The shift comes as Filipinos increasingly turn to digital financial services. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data showed digital payments accounted for 64.7 percent of transactions in 2025, up from 57.4 percent in 2024.

“Many customers want a simpler way to start saving or access credit without disrupting their day. By bringing account opening and credit card applications through EasyWay, we’re removing unnecessary friction and making it easier for customers to act on their financial goals whenever and wherever,” EastWest CEO Jerry G. Ngo said.

Eligible customers can open savings accounts through EasyWay using a valid ID, while existing users can open additional peso and foreign currency deposit accounts.

The app also allows customers to apply for EastWest credit cards, submit requirements and complete identity verification without visiting a branch.

EasyWay, which carries a 4.8-star rating on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, also provides services for account management, fund transfers, bill payments and transaction monitoring.

The app forms part of EastWest’s digital ecosystem alongside Komo for payments and ESTA for customer support.

The bank said the new features further support its “phygital” approach, combining digital convenience with personalized assistance across its banking services.
