PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. continued to boost his administration with seasoned public servants after recently appointing a former official of the Commission on Appointments (CA) as one of the newest members of his Cabinet.
The Chief Executive appointed former CA Secretary Hector Villacorta to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) as Assistant Secretary for Communications, adding another highlight to the decorated portfolio of the veteran lawyer.
Apart from his six-year stint as CA secretary (2016-2022), Villacorta had for a long time served as legal consultant and chief-of-staff of former Senator Vicente Sotto III. He first joined government service in 1974 when he worked as senior executive assistant at the then Department of Public Information (DPI) in Malacanang.
Villacorta also once served as assistant director of the Bureau of Broadcast, director of the Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection (BTRCP) of the Department Trade and Industry (DTI) and administrator of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) under the Department of National Defense (DND).
