Filipinos in the United States and Brunei will soon start a series of seven-a-side football tournaments, culminating in a national championship to be held in the Philippines.
Organizers said the series of tournaments will pave the way for football games to eventually restart in the country within six months.
Former Philippine Azkals member Anton del Rosario revealed that the AIA PhilAm Life 7s Football League came up with the tournament series after all football activities were suspended since the start of the pandemic.
“We are looking to organize football across borders. We plan to tie it up with the home country in the Philippines,” said Del Rosario.
Del Rosario feels football competitions will remain suspended for the next six months in the country.
While their group waits for the resumption of the activities, football competitions within the Filipino community are slowly picking up in Brunei and several areas in the United States.
