Finance Secretary Frederick Go met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva last week to discuss how the Philippines can advance its agenda of strengthening regional economic integration within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
In a statement on Thursday, the Department of Finance (DOF) said Go outlined government initiatives aimed at supporting private sector growth by promoting a more business-friendly environment.
He also cited efforts to digitalize public services, including the rollout of the national digital identification system and the development of the eGov PH App, which links citizens to various government services such as those of the Social Security System (SSS) and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
For her part, Georgieva said the IMF is ready to assist the Philippines through policy guidance and technical support to further enhance economic cooperation among ASEAN member states.
She also welcomed Go’s commitment to maintaining fiscal discipline.
The Philippines is set to serve as chair of ASEAN in 2026.
