First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos expressed her gratitude to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for donating a cargo flight loaded with assorted goods to the Philippines to assist those severely affected by Super Typhoon Carina and the ongoing Habagat season.
“Thank you to the United Arab Emirates for their generous humanitarian aid for flood victims of typhoon Carina,” the First Lady posted on her Instagram.
The donation arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 on July 30, 2024.
The donation was formally received by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr.
The UAE was represented by Ambassador H.E. Mohammed Obaid Alqattam Alzaabi. Also in attendance during the turnover was Special Envoy to the UAE for Trade and Investment Anna Kathryna Yu Pimentel.
The donation included essential food products, which will be distributed to local government units (LGUs) and their constituents in the hardest-hit areas.
Mrs. Marcos thanked all the government agencies that played a crucial role in ensuring the seamless facilitation and release of the donation.
This generous aid from the UAE underscores the importance of international cooperation and support in times of crisis.
