Gov’t data shows almost P3T PPP in the pipeline

The Philippines has 185 projects worth P2.90 trillion currently in the pipeline to be undertaken by the government and the private sector, latest data from the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center showed.

Of the total number, 122 projects worth PHP2.74 trillion will be implemented by the national government, while the remaining 63 projects, amounting to PHP159 billion, will be implemented by local government units.

Majority of these projects will be located in the National Capital Region, Region III (Central Luzon), Region IV-A (Calabarzon), Region I (Ilocos Region), and Region II (Cagayan Valley).

PPP Center data showed that some of the biggest projects in the pipeline include the PHP497.27-billion North Long Haul (NCR-Ilocos Norte and Cagayan) Inter-Regional Railway Project; PHP200-billion Maynilad Water Services Inc. Revised Concession Agreement Term Extension; PHP171.78-billion North-South Commuter Railway Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Project.

Also included are  the PHP163.94-billion Project KILO; PHP150-billion Manila Water Company Inc. Revised Concession Agreement; PHP130.90-billion MRT-7 Airport Access-North Line Project; PHP122.61-billion C5-MRT 10 Project; the PHP107-billion MRT-7 Katipunan Spur Line Project; and the PHP100.64-billion Mindanao Raiwaly Project Phase 3.

Other big projects in the pipeline include the Cebu Monorail Transit Project; MRT 11 Project; East-West Rail Project; Metro Manila Subway Project Operations and Maintenance; Iloilo-Santa Barbara Bus Rapid Transit; Public-Private Partnership for School Infrastructure Project Phase 3; and the San Mateo Railway Project.

The Marcos administration earlier vowed to accelerate infrastructure development in the country.

President Marcos directed Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon to prioritize key infrastructure projects, including the Metro Manila Subway, the development of regional airports, and the expansion of the port system, and agricultural ports.
