If one follows the life and love story of young actress Angelica Panganiban, one dares to say she’s one helluva of a fighter.
In the middle of her struggles in life, Angelica is calm and practical, even jolly about what comes next to her survival. It is evident when she recently gave birth to a bouncing baby girl she and beau Gregg Homan named Amila Sabine.
For a woman of her background as a Fil-American who grew up in the Philippines mostly by herself or with her foster mother Annabelle Panganiban whom she loves dearly, being brave and level-headed is a gift.
Until now, Angelica has to pinch herself that she’s already a mom and has a family of her own as she relayed in her cyber post which reads: “…Luh, may pamilya na talaga me (Oh! I couldn’t believe I’ve already got a family of my own).”
At an early age, Angelica was able to withstand all challenges and heartaches in life—her real mom died when she had just started in the movies. The saddest part of her loss was that her mother was buried in Singapore where she worked.
Life had to go on, anyway, with her foster or adoptive parents, the Panganibans who have been her aegis since she was a kid. She also adapted the name of her surrogate parents.
Panganiban’s love life isn’t smiles and roses as it was peppered with, ah, pepper and bitter pills to swallow like her relationships with actors John Lloyd Cruz and Derek Ramsay but no, she didn’t flip and tumble but stood her ground. She had only some witty comments here and there after the falls but not bitterness to cuddle the rest of her life.
Instead, Angelica manages to be whole up to this very minute.
The former child star is mature, courageous not only as an actress but as a person as well.
Her comic roles in films and on TV might be her guideposts in facing life squarely. Her participation in the erstwhile ABS-CBN gag show “Babana Split” is one remarkable contribution in her solid, pragmatic and optimistic outlook in life. Oh! Angelica had delivered satiric if not sarcastic banters on reel situations with her fellow stars like Zanjoe Marudo or Jason Gainza or Smokey Manaloto or Pooh! These insights on comedic repartees or sitcoms have made Angelica’s consciousness more open to what life has to offer.
Or her characters in such tragi-comic big screen roles as “Here Comes the Bride” or “Legend of China Doll” could very well be derivations of her newly-found wisdom and actions and decisions in life for the better of her.
Surely, there’s no strange relationship between real and reel life of movie or television stars.
They’re all one at the same time.
Angelica is larger than life.
We’re indeed happy for Angelica and her new role in life as a mom, a wife, a thespian—a tapestry of protean, personal landscape.
