Idle govt lands eyed for socialized housing

Malacanang has ordered all national and government agencies to submit an inventory of all idle lands in their locality that can be used for socialized housing projects. 

Memorandum Circular 87 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, also created an inter-agency task force composed of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Housing and Urban Development Coordinating , Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board, National Housing Authority, National Mapping Resource Information Authority, Land Registration Authority and Bureau of Land Management.

The primary purpose of the task force is to identify lands or sites that can be used for socialized housing projects of the government.

The memorandum circular directed “all national government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), to submit to the Inter-Agency Task Force, an inventory of their idle lands and provide information as to the purpose for which it has been reserved, and its status,”
