IRR for Philippines Sports Training Center Act approved by PSC Board

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has approved the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Philippine Sports Training Center (PSTC) Act or the Republic Act 11214  as a monumental step to support the growth and development of sports nationwide.

This act mandates the establishment of the PSTC as a premiere, modern, and state-of-the-art training venue for national athletes and prioritizes expanding access to sports facilities outside Metro Manila.

Under the leadership of PSC Chairman Pato Gregorio, alongside Commissioners Edward Hayco, Matthew Gaston, Olivia Coo, and Walter Torres, the PSC has committed to continue the construction and development of the PSTC, which had been shelved since 2019 when it became law through RA 11214.

The facility will be equipped with international-standard facilities, catering to all Olympic and Non-Olympic sports. It will also include secure and safe dormitories, conference and seminar halls, guest villas, a recreation hall, library, medical center, and meditation room.

The board-approved IRR will be filed at the Office of the National Administrative Register in the University of the Philippines Law Center, Diliman, Quezon City.

The PSC is also mandated to optimize its linkages to provide an enabling impact for all the athletes and the Filipino youth through the PSTC.

The funding for construction, establishment, maintenance, operation, and the management of the facility shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

Assessment reports will also be proactively negotiated by the sports agency towards the legislative chambers specifically through the House Committee on Youth and Sports Development and the Senate Committee on Sports.

This landmark implementation reflects the PSC’s commitment to the holistic development of Philippine national athletes and coaches.
