A multigeneration of females in the Lopez clan will soon find its gender equality role anew when a member gives birth to a baby girl anytime.
Actress Mara Lopez who is heavy with a child is excited to contribute to the expanding and freedom loving family of girls among the Lopezes.
Mara’s mom, beauty queen and prizewinning actress Maria Isabel Lopez excitedly hosted a baby shower recently for her daughter at her and husband-lawyer Jonathan Melrod’s huge estate at Sebastopol, California to welcome the coming of a new colleen in the family.
Maribel, who is known to be an outspoken and libertarian woman, has been advocating for the feminist concept of equality among sexes even when she was a little girl.
“Ipinaglalaban ko na ang mga karapatan ko bilang batang babae noo pa (I was already fighting for the rights of women even when I was still a little girl),” quipped the veteran actress in past interviews.
Maria Isabel is thrilled at the moment to welcome Baby Booth to the proud parents-to-be, Mara and American businessman husband Chandler Booth.
The younger Lopez and Chandler tied the knot in Palawan in November last year.
The Booths are now based in the US.
Maribel is proud about the women’s legacy in her family from her late achiever mom coloratura soprano Cresencia Pagunsan Lopez and to her siblings, one of them, Marites Lopez.
