For the first time after three long years of absence from the entertainment scene and society, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino has finally reappeared in public Tuesday night in a crowded place yet amid her immunity situation.
Kris came down from a white car, hand guided by a confrere.
She was followed by son Bimby in going inside the Power Mac Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Makati City where she would attend the awarding of the Stargate People Asia People of the Year where her friend, designer Michael Leyva was one of the recipients of the award.
Aquino said she couldn’t just let go of support to Michael who has been very caring and loyal to her. “There are people who would say ‘I’ll be there for you,’ or ‘Maaasahan mo ako (You can count on me’). but Michael has proven so many times, and in so many ways,” she quipped.
Coincidentally, the event was also the commemoration of the 39th year of the EDSA People Power Revolution that signified the historic participation of Kris’ mom Cory Aquino in memory of her dad Ninoy Aquino who was murdered during the dictatorship which precipitated the peaceful civil rebellion.
Kris came in her yellow face mask, yellow blouse with red top and floral skirt.
According to the actress, she didn’t know it was the same day of the EDSA People Power celebration. “Akala ko, twenty fourth pa lang ngayon (I thought it was the twenty fourth of the month of February today).
“Uminom kasi ako ng gamot kagabi (It is because I took medicine last night—in context, it might have caused her memory lapse),” she chuckled.
Until she realized yesterday was the commemoration of the EDSA Revolt.
She said it was indeed in time for the observance of the historic event.
Kris was away from the public eye when she went to the US for further medication of her autoimmune diseases that affected her immunity so she wore a face mask for precaution.
She went back to the Philippines last year to continue her medical treatment by health experts and to jumpstart her entertainment career.
