Eighteen teams from the UAAP and other major collegiate leagues in the country are expected to see action in the Manila Best Tournament, a newly-organized basketball competition, starting July 20.
Mikey Calungcaguin, a co-founder of the league, said top collegiate teams from the UAAP, NCAA, NAASCU, NCRAA and even the PBA D-League, have been invited to participate in the tournament.
Venue of the competition, which will be played three times a week, is the Trinity University of Asia in E. Rodriguez Ave.,Quezon City.
Coach Calungcaguin said the 18 teams from UAAP, NCAA, NAASCU, NCRAA, and the D-League will be divided into two brackets for the Under-25 category.
“We expect exciting and action-packed games in the Manila Best Tournament. Also, pati na din sa officiating dahil sa tulong ng father ko (Joey), former PBA referee.” he added.
Former PBA referee Joey A. Calungcaguin will serve as the Commissioner, with Sarabeth P. Calungcaguin as the Operations Directress, and Fernan Dela Cruz as the Technical Head.
The Manila Best Tournament is sponsored by Philippine Airlines, JamReiBiz Water Sports, Jasmine’s Crib in Malabrigo Lobo Batangas, Mr. James Ryan Evangelista, Team Rebel Sports, and Smart Sports.
Supporting it are MS Elite Basketball Saudi Arabia, Armstrong Philippines, FilNation Select, Youth Basketball Coaches PH, Philippine Amateur Basketball Referees Organization (PABRO), and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
