Mega Prime Foods Inc. (MPFI), the company behind the Philippines’ leading sardines brand Mega Sardines, marks a significant milestone in its growth journey as it expands beyond seafood and into agriculture through a landmark partnership with global agro-industrial leader Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF).
The two companies recently broke ground on the Mega CP Layer Complex in Zamboanga City, positioning the region as an emerging hub for modern poultry production. Set to be among the first world-class egg layering facilities in Zamboanga, the project reflects a shared vision to strengthen local food systems and ensure long-term food security in the Philippines.
The partnership brings together MPFI’s strong local market presence and deep understanding of Filipino consumers with CPF’s global expertise in agriculture, particularly in integrated poultry operations. Headquartered in Thailand, CPF is recognized as one of the world’s largest agro-industrial and food companies, with proven systems in livestock and poultry production.
Together, the collaboration aims to build a more resilient and scalable food ecosystem—one that supports both national nutrition needs and long-term industry development.
Michelle Tiu Lim-Chan, President and CEO of Mega Prime Foods, said: “This partnership reflects our commitment to strengthening local food production while creating opportunities in regions like Mindanao. By investing in facilities like this, we hope to contribute to a more reliable and accessible source of protein for Filipino families.”
