MRT 7 up and running in late 2025

Traffic in Quezon City area is expected to get better.

That’s because MRT 7 is set to have partial operation of its twelve stations in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The Tala station in Caloocan Station, on the other hand, will be operational by the year 2026.

Transportation Undersecretary Jeremey Regino made the assurances during the hearing of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr’s) 2025 budget.

Responding to the query of ACT Teachers Party List Rep. France Castro, Regino said the North Ave. Station up to Quirino Station will be up and running next year.

“Magkakaroon na po tayo ng partial operations next year,” said Regino.

Meanwhile, San Jose Station in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan will be serviceable by 2027 or 2028, if plans do not snag.

Regino said this would be the worst-case scenario.

“Yun San Jose Station ang best case scenario po natin is 2027. We’ll extend to 2028 on a worst-case scenario,” Regino explained.

MRT 7 is a 22-kilometer stretch of 14 stations namely Quezon North Avenue Joint Station, Quezon Memorial Circle, University Avenue, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, Batasan, Manggahan, Dona Carmen, Regalado, Mindanao Avenue, Quirino, Sacred Heart, Tala, and San Jose Del Monte.

Once in full operation, the MRT 7 will reduce travel time from Quezon City to San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan to just 35 minutes.

The railway system is expected to carry 300,000 passengers in its inaugural year of operation.
