Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. (MWPV) and SM Prime Holdings Inc. entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for water delivery services and facilities.
The Moa provides that MWPV, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Manila Water Company Inc., will provide water and used water services and facilities to the property development projects of the SM Group including SM Prime and its subsidiaries and affiliates SM Development Corp. and the SM Residences Corp.
The main objective of the agreement is to share expertise in optimal service provision in water delivery for their clients and customers, MWPV reported to the stock exchange.
SM Foundation division, SM Cares, has been implementing programs that focus on energy efficiency, solid waste management, air quality and water recycling.
SM Cares said in its website that it has employed a holistic approach to managing the environment which builds on safety and security through disaster resilience, business continuity programs and emergency preparedness.
“The SM malls have an active solid waste management system that engages not just the employees and customers, but the whole community,” it added.
SM Cares utilizes a combination of communication campaigns through its Green Retail Agenda and the Green Film Festival.
Its rehabilitation efforts like replanting of trees, progressive sustainable architecture and engagement programs raise the environmental consciousness among Filipinos.
“The program has already paid out P47 million worth of recycled good to the participating public,” it said.
“We construct environmentally conscious green buildings that operate to reduce carbon footprint and promote energy efficiency,” SM Cares reports.
“Each mall is equipped with treatment plants to recycle water. Every year SM recycles 3.3 million cubic meters of water – equivalent to 1,300 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
By taking care of the environment, we also take care of the communities we are part of and help promote sustainable progress,” the report added.
