Nine top-ranked international athletes join Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge

Nine top pole vaulters from around the world are coming to the Philippines to compete in the Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge set at the Ayala Triangle in Makati City on September 20 and 21.

The roster includes Filipino pole vault star and current World No. 7 EJ Obiena, whose vision it was to hold the event in the Philippines and showcase the country as a world-class sports venue.  He partnered with Ayala Foundation’s Atletang Ayala and the MVP Sports Foundation to mount the event—a first-of-its-kind to be held in the country.

Two other athletes currently in the top 10 of the World Athletics ranking will also fly in for the event.

  • Menno Vloon (Netherlands) current rank 6
  • EJ Obiena (Philippines) current rank 7
  • Thibaut Collet (France) current rank 12
  • Ben Broeders (Belgium) current rank 13
  • Austin Miller (USA) current rank 14
  • Piotr Lisek (Poland) current rank 15
  • Oleg Zernikel (Germany) current rank 16
  • Matt Ludwig (USA) current rank 23

The Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge is open to the public, with tickets to be given away for free via a raffle.  Know all about ticket mechanics here.

The event will also be aired on RPTV and livestreamed via the Pilipinas Live App and One Sports’ YouTube channel, with catchup airing available on One Sports, and One Sports+.
