PBA Season 50 All-Star voting begins on PH Cup resumption

VOTING for the PBA Season 50 All-Star game begins when action in the Philippine Cup resumes on Dec. 5.

Fans can now vote on their favorite players to become part of the All-Star game to be held at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur in March of next year.

Voting can be made through online or in-game venues.

The December 5 doubleheader featuring Converge versus Magnolia and defending champion San Miguel against TNT will be played at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

“Alam ko na-miss na ng fans itong All-Stars, kaya ibabalik na natin next year sa Candon, Ilocos Sur,” said commissioner Willie Marcial.

The PBA chief said the staging of the All-Star weekend in Candon City under Mayor Eric Singson has been in the pipeline as early as two years ago in preparation for the golden anniversary of Asia’s first ever play-for-pay league.

The 2026 All-Star game will revert back to it old North versus South format for its main offering, and the Rookies/Sophomores versus Juniors’ set-up serving as the All-Star weekend appetizer.

The last time both formats were used in an All-Star weekend was in the 2019 edition of the annual spectacle held in Calasiao, Pangasinan.

The PBA patterned its last two All-Star format to the NBA, where the top two players who received the most number of votes are named captains.

Both captains then formed their respective teams through a draft system consisting of the same players who were also voted by the fans.

The last All-Star game in 2024 in Bacolod City ended up in a 140-140 standoff between Team Mark Barroca and Team Japeth Aguilar after Robert Bolick completed an improbable five-point play in the dying seconds of the game at the La Salle Coliseum.
