“Pieta” director pays Nora Aunor a Christmas visit

Despite its non-inclusion in the ten official entries to the 2023 MMFF, the director-actress tandem of Adolf Alix, Jr. and Nora Aunor never lose hope their film “Pieta” will merit honors in other movie events.

Adolf has just paid Nora a visit hours before Christmas Day to report on the public’s feedback on “Pieta” which has been enjoying a commercial run in select theaters.

The film was exhibited Saturday at the Cinema 76 in Scout Borromeo corner Tomas Morato to the dèlight of goers that included Noranians through the efforts of avid Nora fan Marie Cusi who herself accommodated them to the venue.

Alix, Jr. was around to monitor and greet the general audience that also included professionals, movie workers, actors like Gari Gabrinao, media people such as Art Tapalla and Ismaelli Fava, among others.

“Please spread the good news about the film,” requested Adolf.

According to Marie, Noranian audiences came all the way from the provinces. “They were in the cinema as early as 7:30 am in time for the 10 am screening. They were focused on watching the movie. They amazed by it. They missed Ate Guy’s acting in films,” said Cusi.

Day after the showing, the award’winning director proceeded to Aunor”s place in Xavierville in Quezon City.

She’s very happy with all the wonderful feedback about her performance and for the good words about our film PIETA. She is grateful to all who came to see the film during the three-day sneak preview especially to her fans.

“Told her about how everyone was very estatic to hear her sing once again in the film.

“And she’s excited to be back on television soon. 

“Thank you Ate Guy for the trust and more collab for us this 2024! More breakthrough characters to breathe live into!”

Meanwhile, according to movie columnist Mell T. Navarro, with the comnercial showing of “Pieta,” it now qualified for award nominatiins for 2023.
