Piolo Pascual: Goodbye, ABS-CBN’s “ASAP,” Hello TV5

The exodus of stars in television has been quite striking after the giant Channel 2, the free-to-air TV of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation was shut down by Congress.

Many Kapamilya talents have crossed bridges either to GMA Network or TV5. Wait! There are still Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) Channel 13 and the still sequestered Radio Philippines Network (RPN) Channel 9 whose frequency is being administered by CNN Philippines which could also be available choices of ABS-CBN hopefuls.

Piolo Pascual and Catriona Gray have switched channels as well. Tomorrow, October 18, the premiere telecast of their “Sunday Noontime Live” will be aired in TV5. It is directed by former ABS-CBN Star Magic honcho Johnny Manahan who was replaced by Laurenti Dyogi.

For Piolo, it’s indeed goodbye to “ASAP,” one of the longest running Sunday noontime variety shows on TV ABS-CBN has been producing where the actor has spent most of his musical numbers.

Catriona, meanwhile, had many stints in ABS-CBN which gave her many breaks but she still opted to transfer her loyalty.

Maja Salvador, another Star Magic mainstay has joined Pascual and Gray in the TV5 noontime gig with Donny Pangilinan and Jake Ejercito.

For the meantime, Angelica Panganiban, Bea Alonzo, Sarah Geronimo and some others, have pledged faithfulness to their home studio.
