Raptors beat Wizards in preseason game

Montreal, Canada—DeMarre Carroll scored 16 points and Kyle Lowry had 13 to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 92-82 win over the Washington Wizards last Friday (last Saturday in Manila) in the final preseason game for both. 

DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas added 12 points each, and Cory Joseph had 10 points off the bench.

The Raptors: Trailed for most of the first half, but took their first lead late in the second quarter and led 46-45 at halftime. Terrence Ross made the only one of 10 three-point attempts in the first half for Toronto (5-2). Former No. 1 draft pick Anthony Bennett made his first appearance in the fourth quarter, played 7:24 and had one field goal.

The Wizards: Marcin Gortat’s 16 points led Washington (4-3). Coach Randy Wittman went with a starting lineup of Gortat at center, John Wall and Bradley Beal in the backcourt, and forwards Kris Humphries and Otto Porter Jr.

Up next: Toronto and Washington open the regular season on Wednesday. The Raptors will host the Indiana Pacers; the Wizards, the Orlando Magic. AP
