Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian warmly received the Board of Trustees of the Association of Philippine Journalists – Samahang Plaridel Foundation, Inc. (Samahang Plaridel), led by association president Evelyn Quiroz, during today’s (August 18, 2025) courtesy visit at the DSWD Central Office.
In his short message, Secretary Gatchalian expressed hope that media groups such as the Samahang Plaridel can help disseminate timely and accurate information on DSWD programs to combat fake news.
The DSWD chief said existing agency programs are available to eligible media practitioners such as the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
Samahang Plaridel President Quiroz pledged to support the DSWD’s various programs through in-depth and responsible reporting.
The Samahang Plaridel, established in 2002 by highly respected veteran journalists, advocates for professionalism and integrity among Filipino media practitioners through value-uplifting advocacies.
