After its virtual launch late last year, “SekSinema (Gender Images in Philippine Sex Cinema Enfolding Pandemia)” written by this columnist was finally launched in-person last Saturday at the Cinematheque Centre of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) at 588 T.M. Kalaw Street in Ermita, Manila.
Among the subjects of the book who graced the event were Jean Saburit, Amanda Amores, Stella L., Maria Isabel Lopez, Joy Sumilang, Yvonne Salcedo, Liz Alindogan, Aimee Torres and Tessie Tomas.
Other significant artists in the book who were around to witness the important historical event in Philippine cinema were film directors Jeffrey Jeturian, Cesar M. Evangelista, Frank G. Rivera, Jek Jumawan, actor Jess Evardone, film critic Nonoy Lauzon, production designer Jay Lozada, entertainment writers Mike Herrera and Lhar Santiago of GMA News.
Fashion designers and creative artists Albert Figueras, Erick Valeña and Albert Minguez and talent manager, show producer and social entrepreneur Richard Hiñola were also around to share the triumphs of Philippine cinema.
Meanwhile, Dante Ang II, Chairman of the National Book Development Board (NBDB) was keynote speaker in the momentous event.
