The two-story, four-classroom school building donated by SM Foundation Inc. and Deutsche Bank to the Llano Elementary School in Caloocan City was spruced up by volunteers from the SM Group, spearheaded by the foundation and SM Retail, students, and their parents in time for the June 5 school opening. Volunteers cleaned the classrooms; repaired broken doors, desks and windows; and repainted the school building. 
According to SM School Building Program Head Juris Soliman, the SM employees, in the spirit of volunteerism, decided to spend their day-offs to support the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela culminating activity in their desire to help make public schools more conducive for students’ learning.
SM Foundation is an active participant in the program. For the Brigada Eskwela kick-off, SM Foundation cleaned and spruced up public elementary and high schools in Batangas province.
