Sprinto taps Physical: Asia athletes to champion eye protection in running

AS running continues to grow in popularity across the Philippines, eyewear brand Sprinto is spotlighting a piece of running gear many athletes often overlook: eye protection.

The brand recently launched a campaign promoting performance eyewear as essential running gear rather than just an accessory, featuring Justin Coveney from Team Philippines and Eloni Vunakece from Team Australia—athletes who gained international recognition after appearing in the Netflix competition series Physical: Asia.

The campaign carries the message: “I don’t just run. I wear Sprinto.” According to Sprinto, the campaign aims to shift the mindset of runners who invest in shoes, apparel, and performance trackers but often run without protecting their eyes during races and training.

“Many runners focus on footwear and apparel but overlook eye protection,” said Mr. Pawlo Vargas Misolas, Marketing Director of Sprinto. “Our goal is to remind runners that performance eyewear is not just an accessory—it’s essential gear, just like running shoes”

The athletes are featured wearing Sprinto’s NoirForma performance running glasses, designed specifically for runners. The model incorporates AeroEdge technology, featuring an outward-curved lower lens designed to create an aerodynamic profile while providing wider coverage against glare, wind, and debris during outdoor runs. Known as one of the strongest competitors in the series, Eloni Vunakece emphasized the importance of gear that can withstand demanding performance

“When you compete at full intensity, your gear needs to keep up with you,” Vunakece said.

“Your eyes are exposed to sun, wind, and debris when you run outdoors, so protecting them is essential. The right running eyewear gives you the protection and confidence to focus on performance.”

Meanwhile, Justin Coveney, who became a fan favorite for his clever “Flying Jeepney” strategy in Physical: Asia, said strategy also applies to everyday athletic activities.

“In competition, strategy makes a huge difference — like the Flying Jeepney,” Coveney said.

“Even in running, simple strategies matter. Protecting your eyes helps you stay focused and run with clarity.”

With running communities and race events continuing to grow , Sprinto hopes the campaign will encourage more runners to consider eyewear as part of their essential running kit.

Because for Sprinto, the message is simple: Runners don’t just run. They wear Sprinto.
