Suzuki Exciting Excapade XL7 Hybrid

Going out of town should be a very enjoying experience for the family and it starts with the journey to your destination. A good ride for all, to and from your planned vacation venue, starts the ball rolling.

And in choosing one good vehicle to use, I would recommend this new Suzuki XL7 Hybrid which the company boasts as “an exquisite package of a vehicle crafted that is set to amplify your power to make bold moves whenever and wherever.”

I was one who were given the chance to test drive the XL7 Hybrid for a 2-day, out-of-town experience when Suzuki Philippines came out with the Suzuki Exciting Excapade to Pico de Loro in Nasugbu, Batangas early this month.

Right from the huge showroom of Suzuki Auto Kawit in Cavite, the official 12 Suzuki XL7 Hybrid vehicles (complete with 3 media personnel from different outfits each) were simply great to drive with and experience the “robust look of an SUV and practical utility of an MPV.”

During breakfast, the Suzuki Phils. automobile division director and general manager Norihide Takei was quoted as saying: “Welcome to the much-anticipated XL7 Hybrid Media Test Drive event! We are very happy to have you join us for what promises to be an exhilarating escapade. Today, we embark on a journey where you’ll get firsthand experience behind the wheel of the New XL7 Hybrid. Our theme for this event is an exciting escapade, and indeed, the adventure begins from the historical town of Kawit Cavite. As we continue into the program, get ready for exciting activities and fun games awaiting you. Amidst the excitement, you will also join us re affirm our commitment to sustainability. We’ll be engaging in a meaningful tree-planting activity, embodying Suzuki’s promise to prioritize environmental conservation through our Hybrid vehicle technology.”

The convoy negotiated the roads of Cavite such as Rosario, General Trias, Tanza, Naic straight to the uphill climb in Ternate going to the final destination to refuel at the J.P. Laurel Phoenix station in Nasugbu.

All the 12 participating Suzuki XL7 Hybrids amazingly zipped from only 1–2 liters of gasoline each after the grueling 72-km ride under the searing hot summer sun but with the aircon working to cool the driver and his 2 companions onboard. What a very economical vehicle to use in such a journey.

Then, they all checked in at the Pico de Loro Country Club where several activities – indoor recreational activities for the participants – were held. A hearty dinner and the announcements of contest winners capped of the night.

The next day, the participants joined in the tree-planting activity at the Casitas de Victoria before partaking a lunch at the restaurant inside the venue before going back to the Suzuki Auto Kawit.

At the heart of the XL7 Hybrid lies Suzuki’s 12V Hybrid Technology (SHVS), which seamlessly combines petrol power with electric assistance for enhanced efficiency and performance. SHVS stands for Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki, showcasing Suzuki’s dedication to intelligent hybrid solutions that optimize fuel efficiency without compromising power. The K15B engine with Engine Auto Stop Start System further improves fuel efficiency by up to 13% in urban driving conditions. The New XL7 Hybrid also achieved an impressive fuel efficiency rating of 22.03 Km/L on highways as observed by the Automobile Association of the Philippines during internal testing.

The XL7 Hybrid is available in two variants: XL7 Hybrid GLX AT Monotone priced at P1,252,000 and XL7 Hybrid GLX at 2-Tone at P1,262,000. – ANDY SEVILLA
