T2000 outplays RCRS in ERJHS cage battle

Defending champion T2000 defeated Roberto Castor Rover Scouts, 107-99, to complete a three-game sweep of the elimination round in Group A in the ERJHS Alumni Sports Club Summer League 2025 at Barangay N.S. Amoranto covered court in Quezon City.

With playing coach Jerome Nell and Jay Santiago handling the team, T2000 relied on the foursome of Michael Favis, Jeff Caguisa, Matt Caguisa and Joseph Bognot to roll back RCRS in this eight-team, two-group tournament organized by ERJHS Alumni Sports Club, headed by Ed Andaya.

Favis, who was named as “Best Player of the Game”, finished with game-high 30 points, followed by brothers Jeff and Matt Caguisa with 22 points apiece.

Bognot contributed 14 points for T2000, which is being supported by Mr. Nonito Nio.Carmelo and Nash Monterey fired 35 and 27 points for RCRS, which suffered its second straight loss.

Equally impressive was Batch 2000, which downed Batch 2003, 81-76, for its first win against one loss.The Rikki Catahan-mentored Batch 2000 got double digit scores from Paul John Jimenez, Jefferson Arceo and Bren Navarro in beating Batch 2003.

Best Player of the Game awardee Jimenez fired 25 points, Arceo added 14 and Navarro had 13.

Michael Mangaoang and Eduard Cabacang finished with 29 and 18 points for Batch 2003 of playing coach Roger Capistrano and Dennis Casimiro.Richard Nell is the commissioner while Vic De Guzman, Jeri Santos and Joel Macatuno lead the technical committee.

The annual alumni tournament is supported by Batch 85 Sports Club, Wang’s Ballclub, Kelme Basketball, Jesse Care Pest Management Services, Ping-Ping Lechon, Barangay Paang Bundok, headed by William Chua and kagawad Michael De Castro and Mara Linsangan and Barangay N.S. Amoranto, headed by Chairman Ato De Guzman.

Also supporting the tournament are Cong. Arjo Atayde and Gab Atayde, Councilor TJ Calalay, Laloma Fire Station, headed by Inspector Rommel Perez and SFO Brando Lim for the medical and safety assistance.
