‘Tatak ng Tapang, Tatak Ginebra’ honors the battle scars of real-life courage

Ginebra San Miguel, the world’s largest-selling gin, raises the bar in brand storytelling with its newest campaign, “Tatak ng Tapang, Tatak Ginebra.” An evolution of its long-standing celebration of Filipino courage, the campaign shifts the spotlight to real people—four individuals whose strength is etched in the scars they carry.

Launched digitally on December 31, 2025, the campaign marks a meaningful departure from past executions. According to Sales and Marketing Manager Allan Mercado, “We are honoring real people—ordinary individuals whose stories our consumers can genuinely relate to. Through their authenticity, we hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams.”

For years, Ginebra San Miguel has been synonymous with courage, resilience, and the “never-say-die” spirit. In 2025, the brand celebrated the kabayani—teachers, jeepney drivers, nurses, and everyday workers whose quiet heroism embodies modern bayanihan.

“The concept of the bayani was born during the pandemic, when heroism took on new meaning,” explains Marketing Manager Ron Molina. “Today, we move toward real-life heroes—people who have actual battle scars to show.”

Those scars—visible on the hands, feet, and faces of mountaineer Miguel Mapalad, visual artist Auggie Fontanilla, PBA rookie Sonny Estil, and billiards champion Chezka Centeno—are worn proudly.

‘Lahat Tayo May Tatak ng Tapang’

At the heart of the campaign is a simple truth: everyone faces battles. Each person carries struggles and challenges, but within each lies the courage to persevere—for family, self, and country.

Few stories capture this better than that of Miguel Mapalad, one of the few Filipinos to conquer Mount Everest.

“Reaching the peak of the Philippines and other mountains wasn’t enough—Mt. Everest was my ultimate goal,” he says.

For visual artist Auggie Fontanilla, courage can be found on the streets of Manila. Once part of the publishing industry, he walked away to pursue his passion for graffiti. By day, he worked to survive; by night, he painted city walls. Today, he is a lead artist for The Clothing and the Pilipinas Street Plan Collective.

On the basketball court, Sonny Estil’s journey tells another story of grit. Before becoming a first-round PBA draft pick for Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings, he played local leagues wearing borrowed shoes that didn’t fit.

That same resolve defines Chezka Centeno, the WPA Women’s World 10-Ball Champion. Learning billiards in modest halls in Zamboanga, she often competed as the only woman among men. Losses were frequent, but determination kept her focused.

A Truly Filipino Brand

“We celebrate courage in its most authentic form,” says Group Product Manager Paolo Jose Tupaz.

Ginebra San Miguel is produced by Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI), maker of the world’s largest-selling gin and a portfolio of quality distilled spirits.
