SMILE!
There is always a perfect reason to reminisce the beautiful harmony of The New Minstrels REMIX. Music revival never goes out of style. After successfully releasing their first TNM remake single, ‘Hahabol-Habol,’ last January 7, the group launches another single for us to enjoy. The song entitled ‘SMILE,’ composer Butch Monserat wrote the song back in 1979. Once popularized by The New Minstrels, 2nd Generation, it was one of the most requested songs on the radio and live performances. Its tune gives an instant recall, delivering a piece of light melodic music that’s elate and easy. The ‘SMILE‘ Single Produced by GOV Entertainment features Artists from different TNM Generations, i.e., Ernie Mercado (Gen2), Zoe Zuniga (Gen3), Bobit Pablo (Gen5), Dingdong Fernando (Gen5), Jessica Cabasal (Gen2), Jaramie Zuniga (Gen3), Angie Wilson (Gen4) and Jinky Somera (Gen5). The revived ‘SMILE’ music arranged by the new talent Edward Mitra and the vocal harmony set by Music Director Ernie Magtuto of Gen5 completed the song’s refreshed sound. Today, The New Minstrels REMIX presents the song version with a distinctive mix that suits the music trend of today’s age. Once again, we can enjoy the favorite old-time theme of the 80s all over very soon. Talk about big treats. It comes in 2s.

TNM REMIX Sets Off
It is exciting to recreate the old and glimpse the new in this day and age. In the process of things, The New Minstrels REMIX envisions bringing the old standard music closer to the hearts of many. And in today’s modern world, they’ve adapted to the possibilities of the latest trends and trades.
The group believes anything highly complex can conceivably be accomplished simply yet with the same end-product. The modern age of the digital world made these experiences attainable for most, regardless of the location or time zone. The technology we rely on gets things done in a matter of seconds. Imagine what we can achieve as simply tapping and clicking. You will be amazed to discover all sorts of exciting options you never expected it could contribute. That itself is worth the adventure. Subsequently, this is not diverse in concept for each member of the TNM REMIX. They are certainly taking advantage of what the group can accomplish while working their goals remotely. To them, the unthinkable is feasible. It simply conveys that the group relishes creating music, recording songs, and
reliving the TNM music as legacy—their perfect motivation.

TNM REMIX Create Forms to Make the Single
We ask ourselves how the group managed to get the work done in the scheme of things. Their goals were agreeably assumed and are transparent, and the process is precise. TNM REMIX members attend weekly online sessions much like conferences to discuss concepts, updates, timetables, and tasks while simultaneously living their respective professional trades.
As most are working from home, their system is a significant factor that streamlines the creative process: the Music Minus1 and the vocal assignments arranged ahead. At the exact time, the singers meet for an online StoryCon and accomplish reading- throwing of lines, so everyone is on the same page. Voice track assignments are sent, or even hold voice workshops.
For the group, a song has to tell a story, and to achieve it, singing as a group needs to have the same energy. Hence, making each word clear when sang in unison, the precise dynamics and rhythm in perfection. In the absence of the recording coach in the usual studio set-up, the singers assume the role and do it themselves with the help of a vocal guide.
Each TNM REMIX member functions individually. Learning the voice track and recording happens at their own pace. Interestingly, this point does not refer to a highly technical recording studio but instead directs to their home location. Nonetheless, it requires three basic things on hand – a mobile gadget, internet Wifi, and a wardrobe closet. On this, one may doubt, how is it even doable? It may seem impossible, yes. Does it work? That is more extensive ‘yes.’ For some of them, they are well-versed in technology, and for most, they admittedly had to seek the help of their youngsters. This statement became a trademark. (Who are going to call? ‘Ghostbusters!’) That itself is still classic.
The group does not discount the challenges that arise—too many considerations. For instance, when to find the perfect time to record because the ambient will affect the quality of the recording. Or even the discomforts of being inside the closet to achieve the ideal acoustics. One member shared the dog suddenly howls in the middle of the recording. Others say sirens or car horns sound off right before they reach the end of the recording. That said, they have to start all over. Thus, the wardrobe closet is the best option. Another member also shared and quickly had to order food, failing to prepare dinner or even wait for midnight, making sure there was less ambient noise. Not to mention the post-it noting ‘Shhhh, on-going recording’ placed on their doors turned too many, or lyric sheets posted flashed like posters. Despite the limitations, unique experiences have turned classic and witty yet put the actual music piece in place. We salute all the Artists for their dedication to sharing their music. You feed the depths of our inner souls.
The stories behind their music give us a glimpse of their passion and commitment to this art form. It expresses their extraordinary love language through music, ensuring that we can experience it. Isn’t this just what we all need? Everyone’s creative effort uplifts the value of new learnings, new sound, and a new vibe. Seasons have changed, and the art of music has evolved. Today, The New Minstrels REMIX takes this track, no doubt. The group, composed of 5 Generations, continues to serenade us with the TNM music that had always enchanted our hearts through time.
