Zig Dulay: “Ruru Madrid and Dennis Trillo’s successes are mine, too”

The moment the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal (awards night) proclaimed Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid as Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively, for GMA Pictures’ “Green Bones,” their common director Zig Dulay was triumphant and proud of their artistic achievements.

“Your success is also my success,” wrote Zig in his Facebook wall.

“From the first meeting to form Dom (played by Dennis) and Javier (essayed by Ruru)—until they completely lived every emotion and move of your performance. Thank you for sharing your art. Thank you so much for traveling with me and for pouring heart and soul into the ‘Green Bones’ story. Until the next creation of story and life.

“Again, congrats to the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor of the 50th MMFF! Dennis Trillo Jose Ezekiel Madrid,” exclaimed Dulay.

In his musings, Zig is still euphoric about the recognitions and the chances of storytelling he has been receiving.

Fond of articulating his thoughts publicly, Dulay muses: “Sa batang ako—Kapit ka lang, sobra-sobra sa pangarap mo ang naghihintay sa’yo (To the child in me—Hold on, the dreams waiting to realize are too much!).

Salamat sa bawat taong nakasama, nagbigay halaga at patuloy na naniniwala, lalo na sa mga panahong ako mismo hindi naniniwala sa sarili ko—ang totoo, kayo ang dahilan kung bakit ako nagpapatuloy sa pag-usad, kayo ang nagsisilbing inspirasyon kung bakit patuloy akong lumalaban (Thank you to everyone who have interacted, give worthiness and continuously believe in me especially during the times I myself don’t believe in me anymore–in reality, you are the reason why I continue to thrive because you inspire me why I continue to carry on).

Salamat sa tiwala, at pagmamahal (Thanks for the trust and care).

Salamat sa uniberso, na laging nagpapaala sa kung ano ang kahulugan ng buhay. Salamat sa bawat bulong—na maaari akong lumipad habang nananatiling nakatapak sa lupa (Thanks to the universe that always reminds me what life is all about. Thanks to every whisper–that I could fly while my feet are buried on the ground).

Malayo pa pero malayo-layo na rin.

Salamat sa isa na namang makabuluhang taon ng buhay (I still have to travel farther. Thanks again fir another meaningful year).

Sa batang ako—tuloy-tuloy sa paglaban para sa pangarap, magtiwala lang at ‘wag mapagod lumikha hindi lamang para sa sarili, kundi para sa nakararami (For the child in me—struggles continue to achieve one’s goals, just believe and don’t get tired to create not only for oneself but for the greater number of people).” (Boy Villasanta)
