127th death anniversary of Marcelo H. del Pilar

The country commemorates today, July 4, 2023, the 127^th death anniversary of Marcelo H. del Pilar (a.k.a. Plaridel), Filipino propagandist and patron of the Association of Philippine Journalists-Samahang Plaridel. Del Pilar was one of the leading figures of the Philippine anti-friar movement in the late 19th century. Plaridel was editor of the propaganda newspaper La Solidaridad that was used to expose the abuses of Spanish friars.
