1st Southeast Asia medicine drone delivery kicks off in Rizal

Fulfilling President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s directive of ensuring that no Filipino, especially those living in remote areas, will be left behind, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), mWell and Philippine Flying Labs launched the Drone Medicine Delivery last January 31, 2025 at Barangay Niogan, Pililla in Rizal.

DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy, along with the government officials, led the ceremonial launching and turn-over of mWell OnTheGo bag, a portable digital clinic to the barangay. As part of the DICT’s SMART Villages and SMART Islands (SVSI) program in the region, this pioneering initiative integrates the mWell Telemedicine Platform with Drone Technology, enabling residents to connect with medical professionals remotely and faster medicine delivery.

In his keynote message, the ICT chief emphasized the significance of drone medicine delivery in overcoming geographical barriers, promoting equity, making progress in healthcare, and reinforcing a digitally empowered Philippines.
